Affliction in traditional Western astrology refers to a planet that is in aspect (particularly conjunction, square, and opposition) to one of the malefics – Saturn and Mars.
Unafflicted – A planet is unafflicted when it is not limited to only hard aspects. This can mean that the planet has no aspects, has only easy aspects, or has both inharmonious and harmonious aspects.
